Dress-Up, Grandparents and Poser pics

Hey there....just another update. Again I'm in the office with Summer sitting behind me in her Boppy. Last night was another long night... At least I'm getting in watching some taped shows while I walk her around and soothe her. I talk to her about numbers, colors, letters, spelling her name, and sing to her...anything to try and keep her mind interested and not screaming. She was up a lot, but seemed to scream a little less.

Anyway, I wanted to post a few more pictures. Friday the grandparents (Gigi and Grumpa) showed up, so we dressed up Summer in the little outfit Grumpa bought for her, well before she was born. This is the first time she has worn anything besides the hospital T-shirt or a onesie.

Summer Dressed Up

This is the first time I've used the blogger insert picture tool. It is new, compared to when I started using it. Seems I do not need to host the pics myself. Will be interesting to see how it works. Will try with a non-size fixed pic... This here is Sumemr with her grandparents.

Grumpa:

OK, that seems to work out pretty well. They resize the link to 1600 max wide (tall?) and make the image in the post 400 tall (for large, 320 for medium and ?? for small). I'll stick with the large, as I've pretty much always made the pics 400 wide anyway...and 400 tall should be just as good, since can now click on them and see a full size image. I'll play with formatting left/right, text alignment and such later. Nice to not have to host, but will be more iffy on how it will look on the page...hmmm....

Last pic is of her "posing", as she likes to do when feeding. We didn't get a great pic of it...dark and she never smiled just right. I have some on video, and I could rip out a frame, but I don't have the time to get to that right now. Maybe later. Just know she's a cutey and likes to show off!

Mail

Exciting!!!
Summer received her very first piece of mail addressed to her today...

Boring...
It was just an appointment reminder from the doctor. But, it was her first piece of mail, none the less.

Anyway, there hasn't been too much to speak of lately. Summer is doing as well as ever, sleeping CONSTANTLY during the day, and waking up and HOWLING at night. We "cheated" and used a pacifier for 5 or 10 minutes last night, just to give her something to have in her mouth...she wanted to sleep, but couldn't without something...and she wasn't eating. It worked wonders and she slept for about 2 hours...until 1AM, at which point she was up and screaming. SIgh...our little "she-devil"...

But you sure can't stay upset for too long.

Anyway, Summer's Aunt and Uncle (Krissy and Gabe) finally came over and so did Summer's grandparents (Fred and Grace (gigi and grumpa)). Summer's jaundice is definitely subsiding. She's been getting some sunning time in and feeding is going well, so we're sure that will clear right up.

Right now, Summer is sleeping behind me on the office/spare bedroom bed, in her Blue Bees Boppy and I am working on her birth announcements as Jess is taking a nap. I need to go buy the paper soon, as I am almost done with the artwork (I am basically copying a bit from some online artwork and making it our own...) and will be sending everything out in a day or so. Not everyone is on the internet ya know. ;-)

Comments

Hey, noticed a few people made comments. I finally saw the setting that lets anyone comment, without having to register. So, if you ever wanted to comment, without registering for blogger.com, you should now be able to do so! We love to read your comments, and I'm sure summer will, as well, when she gets old enough to do so.

First Bath

Well, this morning, after "breakfast" and her prescribed sunning, we gave our little Summer a bath. Figured the best way was on her sink, sitting on the side and filling the sink with the soapy water, then clear. The bath went superbly and now we have a newly clean Summer!

After the bath, she was quite wide awake and took to eating for another 20 minutes...which is when we put her down in the pack-n-play and I've been working on these last four posts. Don't know if we have any planned visitors today. My plans are to go out and get some paper to make some birth announcements and put the license on my car and maybe, just maybe paint the baseboards in the bathroom. I would also like to take a little nap. Probably will try to get in a nap around 3 or so... Hopefully, Summer will be sleeping, too!

Healthy Baby

We had our first baby appointment yesterday. Which had Summer taking her second car ride. She was pretty sleepy and loved it!

Summer's pediatrician checked her out and everything is pretty normal. Summer is experiencing a tiny bit of physiological jaundice. She was prescribed 15 minutes of indirect sunlight, twice a day. :-) So, I got her out this morning for a full dose, and yesterday I only gave her half of one dose, since she got hungry.

Her weight was back up a little. As you'll recall, Summer was born at 7 lbs 11.2 oz. When she left the hostpical she was at 7 lbs 2 oz. At her appointment on Thursday she was up to 7 lbs 6.5 oz. So, her feedings are going well, her poop is transitioning and basically her pipes are good!

After checking out Summer we had a lactation consultant appointment and Jess got some pointers on how to get Summer to latch on a little better. Since that appointment Summer is latching on SUPER well, eating better, and most importantly Jessica is NOT experiencing pain during the feedings.

The only "problem" is that Summer is the sweetest thing during the day...when we change her diapers she whines a little, when anything bugs her, she whines a little...at night...it's a COMPLETELY different story. She HOWLS!!! Tuesday night it happened around 4-5 AM. Wednesday night it happened about 2-3AM. Last night it was right after Eric and Denise left...she was going nuts from 11-12:30... So, it appears that may be moving earlier, which is good, since Jess and I try to get things done during the day while she sleeps...when we COULD be trying to nap with her. Seems it is getting less and less, so we're doing all right. The first two nights Jess was still hurting breast-feeding, so it was hard to try to keep feeding...now it's all good.

So, that's Summer...a healthy baby!!! YAY!!!

Hanging with Summer

Well, hey there. A few posts all together, as I catch everyone up to date. The cats are worth a special mention, right? All of them seem to be doing quite well with our new addition. And Summer, THANKFULLY, seems to have no allergies (so far!), so that is awesome. The cats just walk up next to Summer in her chairs, as she's lying around in her "Bobby" and all that. When they try to get too close we shoo them away, but they don't seem threatened by her and are just a little jealous if anything, since we lock them out of our room at night.

On Tuesday we had Summer in the pack-n-play and Cheeto was getting a good look. Thought it was pretty darned cute...what do you think?

Also, was thinking about it and I have absolutely no pictures of myself anywhere on either of these blogs. I guess I just wasn't as important in the pregnancy portion...in a photographic sense. But, here is Summer and I from last night.

So, that's Summer hanging out at home. She's still doing super well!

Visitors

OK, it's Friday now. We've been home, what 3 days now? We've had visitors, but they've been mostly short and sweet, mostly interupted by Summer's need to feed. :-) That thirsty little girl.

Anyway, the very first home visitor was Jamiellin on Wednesday. Then we had Erika and Eric and Denise on Thursday. (I'm sitting here typing this while listening to Summer on the Baby monitor and, of course, she just started moving and making noises. I even think I heard her poo...so, I gotta go for now.) I'll come back and finish this later.

OK, I'm back. I turned on the bed vibrator and held her hand a litlte bit and she seemed to get back to sleep. Anyway, Eric and Denise brought a camera, but Jamiellin forgot, and we forgot to take one of Summer's very first visitor. So, anyone that comes to visit...remember your cameras! And hopefully they are digital so you can send me the pics for Summer to remember you by...or if you like we can post it on the blog.

Family is expected to come visit tomorrow or Sunday, as are others. Summer can't wait to meet everyone! :-)

Day Two

Everything is going well. Getting reasonable sleep. Summer is on an eat and sleep program right now. Last night she was kind of cranky around 4-4:30...Just had to walk around with her and she was fine and slept a good amount.

In the morning, after one of her feedings I put her in the swing downstairs for about 30 minutes. She dozed and stirred a few times, but seemed to like it.

While Jessica showered after a feeding I took a nice two hour nap with her. After everyone was up and ready, we took Summer out for a stroll around the block. Just one block, got Jess some exercise and got Summer into her stroller. She didn't fidget or anything. Just slept and enjoyed the ride. We passed by two granparents which were pushing their 2 month old granddaughter around in a stroller, just like us.

Summer, you are being such a a good baby! You are doing so well!

Photo Sized

Kind of thinking some of you may want to print out a picture of Summer. I put up a picture of her on the tyke blog, but foolishly I left it kind of square, which isn't so great for a 4x6 printout... So, click on this reformatted pic for a larger image which you can save and print out.

Welcome Home Summer!

Hi all, I'm sure most of you are here, because you were sent here from tykebreneman.blogspot.com. That blog was created for the pregnancy and birth of our baby. We didn't know the sex at the beginning, and therefore used the name Tyke. Now that Summer is born, we have 100% confirmation that the baby is a girl...and she is now home! So, this will be the blog to update everyone (family and friends) of Summer's progress, now that she's out and about!!

Basic Stats repeated here...
Born 8:38 PM on June 19th
Weight: 7 lbs 11.2 oz
Length: 18.5 inches

Welcome home Summer!

Jess and I got home about 1:30 PM today (June 21st (The first day of Summer, conveniently )). We got McDonalds on the way home, some easy, cheap, quick food. We ate, Jess got Summer to eat, and I cleaned up the place and came in here to update the blogs. So, here is Summer, her first pictures at home!

And a close-up:

Well, that's it for now, the last post on the original blog will be pretty long. So, I'm done here for now. I hope everyone liked the Tyke blog and will continue to watch Summer grow here!
